Girlfriends are liabilities

Celebrities in skimpy clothing is another concern for some men.

“Girlfriends are annoying and troublesome,” said one college student who just turned 20. “Make one wrong move and I could be accused of sexual harassment, and there are too many thoughtless and inconsiderate girls out there.”
Girls can liberally touch men, checking out their bodies. Yet, there is nothing men can do. “If I did that to a girl, I’d be thrown into prison right away.”
Other young men also take extra caution when interacting with women for fear of sexual lawsuits. Celebrities and certain women wearing short hot pants and waving around their buttocks is one more concern for these men.
They fear women may misinterpret their looking at such women to be perverted. They find it much more relaxing to hang out with fellow male friends.
This trend bears depressing news. The number of single men over their 40s has multiplied by 3.2 times in the past ten years. For men over 50, the rate increased by 4.5 times.
The recent suicide performance by male rights activist Sung Jae-gi has stirred heated online debates between men and women over gender inequities.
Of course, this current trend should not place the blame on women alone. These men can often be oversensitive and emotional.
Women have often been neglected and treated as inferior. But in modern times, the standards for female rights have been uplifted from social segregation and discrimination.
Voices of women are heard and are resilient throughout the world.
Perhaps the concerns of the rising male youth should be heard as well.
