Woman missing after meeting officer

A 40-year-old woman from Gunsan, North Jeolla Province is missing, five days after she went to meet a police officer, police said Sunday.

The woman, surnamed Lee went missing on July. 24, after meeting the officer, 40, surnamed Jung who is an acquaintance of Lee.

Jung was questioned on July 25, following a report made by Lee’s family. According to police, the officer removed video footage from a camera installed in his car right before he was questioned.

Police released him because there was no evidence to hold him. Shortly after questioning, Jung drove to Gangwon Province and abandoned his car under a bridge.

Police were able to restore the erased video footage from Jung’s car. In it, a man is seen passing by with a shovel in his hands. The clip was recorded at 9:40 p.m. on July 24 after Lee disappeared.
