Uncertain future biggest discouragement for college students

Results of a recent survey show nine out of ten participants felt they were most discouraged after they enrolled in college.

Albamon, an online job column, surveyed 714 college students about when they felt most discouraged.

Their discouragement came from when their future was not uncertain (18.4 percent).

Other factors included tuition and financial hardships (15.6 percent), failure to find employment (14.5 percent), unexpected failing grades in assignments and exams (11.5 percent), and obstacles that could not be overcome with sheer skills (8.8 percent).

Unfortunately, half of those who felt discouraged could not recover from their demoralizing states.

Optimistic netizens countered with responses such as “You still have your youth,” “The future is unclear for everyone,” and “Shouldn’t the number one discouragement for college students be not having a girlfriend/boyfriend?”
