Drunk US soldier harasses taxi driver at 100km/h

Seoul Suseo Police Station arrested an American soldier private first class (22) for violently harassing a taxi driver while he was driving his taxi on June 30.

The police said that the pfc, who is stationed at the Seoul Air Base, got on the taxi driven by Choi (46) at 5:10 A.M., and started beating and strangling him from behind where he was seated while the taxi was running on Cheongdam bridge.

Police, after investigating the case, found out that the taxi at the time of the accident was running with speed of faster than 100km/h.

The police also said that when Choi pulled over his taxi in Suseo-dong, Gangnam-gu, to get help, the private ditched the taxi and tried to flee the scene, and, as Choi chased after him, again threatened him with hostile action.

The police said that the private, during the accident, was accompanied by a male assumed to be his comrade who, when the taxi pulled over, left the scene.

It was found out that the private, before getting on the taxi, was enjoying a binge with ten other soldiers and got into a brawl.

The police said that “the private said he doesn’t remember any of the accident” and that “his whereabouts will be confirmed after the investigation is completed.”
