Goose father-dentist ends life after 10 years

A dentist, who had been living alone for 10 years with the rest of the family in the United States, chose to end his life by burning up firing coal briquettes in his apartment.

The 50-year-old dentist was found dead in the apartment in Daegu on Tuesday afternoon and the police were alerted by one of his assistants of the dental office.

Police investigators said they found all of the eight coal briquettes burned to a crisp along with a final note.

In the message, he told his wife that he has nothing against the family returning to Korea if she thought it was the best choice but otherwise to remain in the United States.

“I am sorry that I can no longer protect you. Please take good care of our daughter. Cremate my body and try to get rid of any of my reminiscence,” he said in the single-page note.

He also asked his wife to not tell their daughter that her father took his own life.

The dentist’s staff said the man was never talkative. It was a surprise that he committed suicide, seeing that he had been to the United States to see his family just last year.
