How far will broadcasting stations go to grab higher viewership?

Television seems to be a limitless source of people’s experiences, some of which are a little more than viewers can handle.

From experiences of falling victims to fraud and suffering from unspeakable diseases, television programs often tell all and more and there are criticisms that program directors will stop at nothing to gain higher viewership, no matter what it means to the actual persons involved.

One serious problem, experts say, is that viewers tend to lose a sense of how horrible these experiences can be for those who suffer them.

These experiences are laid out in the open in talk shows. In some cases, celebrities reveal their urges to commit suicide when killing oneself has become a serious social problem in Korea.

In another television program, popular actress Chon Won-ju talked about how her eldest daughter-in-law is simply lazy and that the second is the most cunning “fox” she had ever met.

Such methods of developing television programs are even worse when it gets to cable stations, making it obvious that some type of discretion or censorship is obviously necessary, the experts point out.
