Two lawmakers indicted for offering money for nomination

Prosecutors indicted two lawmakers for providing illegal political funds, Tuesday, wrapping up an investigation into a high-profile money-for-nomination scandal that engulfed the ruling Saenuri Party.

They are Rep. Hyun Young-hee, now an independent lawmaker who was expelled from the ruling Saenuri Party last month, and Rep. Yoon Young-seok, who is still a member.

Hyun is accused of having given 50 million won ($41,000) to a former official of the party’s Busan chapter, Cho Ki-moon, ahead of the April parliamentary elections in exchange for his assistance in securing a proportional representative ticket.
