Lawmakers' annual salary jumps 20%

This year's newly elected lawmakers are set to receive 20 percent more in annual salary compared to their predecessors, data showed Tuesday, raising questions about their pledge to reduce privileges given to them.

The annual pay for each of the National Assembly's 300 lawmakers will reach 137.96 million won (US$121,765) this year, up 20.3 percent from the 114.7 million won their predecessors received on average from 2008 to 2011, according to data from the National Assembly Secretariat.
