The prosecution demanded seven years in prison for a school administration affairs chief in Gwangju, Thursday, who was charged with sexually assaulting a physically challenged girl.
The incident was just one of the crimes that inspired the film, “Dogani,” which swept the nation in 2011.
The Gwangju District Prosecutors Office also asked the court to order the 63-year-old Kim to wear an electronic anklet for 10 years after serving his sentence as an additional penalty.
The crime dates back to April 2005, when Kim, the chief of administrative affairs at Inhwa School for the disabled, raped the 18-year-old hearing impaired girl with her hands and feet tied. He was also indicted for beating a 17-year-old boy, who reported the rape, with a beverage bottle and other weapons.
“Kim has never regretted what he did and the victims have requested severe punishment,” said a prosecutor at the Gwangju District Public Prosecutors Office. “Also it’s a very serious crime because he sexually harassed a disabled student who was supposed to be protected by him.”
Kim was arrested in a reinvestigation last year after the film was screened nationwide and the school was closed.
