Lee, Gillard call for global recovery effort

Days ahead of the G20 Summit slated for June 18 and 19 in Mexico, President Lee Myung-bak and Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard contributed an op-ed article calling for a solid plan of action to boost the global economy and provide jobs to an Australian newspaper.

The two leaders stressed the need to reduce uncertainty and risks while raising optimism about growth by presenting two possible solutions.

Their first concern, as written in the piece published in the Australian Financial Review on June 14 was to address the instability in Europe. They stressed the need for an “agreement on a road map for the eurozone to underpin its monetary union by a fiscal union and a banking union.”
