Unusually warm weather sweeps nation

By Kim Bo-eun

The nation experienced unseasonably warm weather on Tuesday, with the daytime high reaching around 30 degrees Celsius in some regions.

The mercury went up as high as 30.7 degrees Celsius in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province and hit 30.5 degrees in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

The daytime high stood at 29 degrees in Daegju and 28.6 degrees in Daejeon. The temperature rose to 25.6 degrees in Seoul.

A weatherman said it was unusual as the nation was under the influence of warm and humid atmospheric currents moving from the southwest.

People were seen wearing short sleeves and many headed out to enjoy the warm weather. People strolled in parks with cold drinks in hand and others rested on benches in the shade to escape the sudden heat.

Today, temperatures are forecast to drop by around 10 degrees, with strong winds and heavy rain nationwide.

The rain will be due to the influence of low atmospheric pressure moving in from the southwest.

From Thursday, the weather is forecast to become warmer.
