Kenya hosts travel forum

By Kim Rahn

Kenya’s tourism body introduced the African state’s tourist attractions Wednesday and sought cooperation from Korea’s travel agencies.

The Kenya Tourism Board held a road show at the Plaza hotel in Seoul with presentations and a luncheon. It is planning another one in Busan on Friday.

While about 150 people took part in the event, A. K. Chebukaka, deputy head of mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Seoul delivered a welcome message.

Two officials from the tourism board, John Chirchir and Hilda Ogada, gave presentations to people representing the participating travel agency in two sessions.

At the executive forum for CEOs and senior managers, they sought Korean partners’ cooperation to bring more Korean tourists to Kenya. At the front office and product managers training forum, they discussed how to effectively introduce Kenya’s tourist attractions to customers and develop tour packages as well as explained the African country’s security situation.

The number of Korean visitors to Kenya is steadily growing, with about 7,000 visiting last year. In June, Korean Air will begin operating a direct flight between Korea and Kenya.
