A group of diplomats from nearly 50 countries and international organizations are visiting Seoul to check South Korea’s readiness for the second Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul slated for March.
The 250-member delegation inspected the main venues for the summit. They were briefed about related issues, including protocol, media and security among others, in this early inspection program that continues through today from Tuesday, according to the preparatory secretariat for the summit.
The secretariat will host the second and last inspection session with envoys in early March to ensure the country’s thorough preparation for the high-profile event, it said.
The summit, slated for March 26-27 at the COEX Convention Center in southern Seoul, is the world’s largest forum on nuclear security.
Leaders from more than 50 countries and international organizations, including the United States, China, Japan, Russia and the United Nations, will attend the meeting in an orchestrated effort to make the world free of nuclear terrorism.
The secretariat recently hired nearly 750 assistants to ensure the smooth running of the meeting.
