Free calendars available for foreign residents

With a new year just around the corner, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is handing out 2012 desk calendars to foreign residents at no cost.

By dialing 1330, the “TT Call Center” foreigners can leave their names and addresses to receive one desk calendar by mail. This offer will continue through Dec. 31 and only the first 3,000 callers will be able to receive the calendar decorated with pictures of the nation’s popular tourist destinations and cultural assets.

Calls made from a land line only need to dial 1330 without an area code but on a cellular phone, the local area code must be dialed before 1330.

The TT Call Center, established in 1999, offers non-Korean residents and visitors with a wealth of information on hotels, popular tourist destinations and appropriate means of transportation in three languages — English, Japanese and Chinese.

Interpretation services can also be used when foreign tourists need to talk to taxi drivers, restaurant employees, and even pedestrians on the street.
