2nd Korea-Russia forum on Jeju

Experts from South Korea and Russia will discuss ways to strengthen the partnership of the two nations at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Jeju Island next week.

The 2nd Eurasia Forum will be held under the theme of “Korea-Russia Partnership for Eurasian Prosperity” at a time when a debate over a gas pipeline connecting them via North Korea is underway.

During the three-day forum, participants will exchange views on the role of Russia in improving inter-Korean relations, ways to seek joint gains between Korea and Russia over unification of the two Koreas and Korea-Russia cooperation projects.

Joining the forum are Lee Bae-yong, president of the Presidential Council on Nation Branding, scholars from St. Petersburg State University including Stanislav Tkachenko, and Korean professors and researchers.

Russian Ambassador to Korea Konstantin Vnukov will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony to be held Monday.

The forum will be hosted by the Korea Global Foundation in collaboration with St. Petersburg State University. Earlier, the two sides established the Global Politic and Economy Center at St. Petersburg State University, as a joint global institution. The Korea Times is sponsoring the event. The forum will end Wednesday.
