Foreign students to review expat policy
By Kim Rahn
Foreign students here will soon have an opportunity to present their ideas on Seoul Metropolitan Government’s policies for expats after discussing and sharing their experiences for two months.
Eighty-four students from 32 countries will start their policy review activity in the Seoul International Student Forum Friday by holding a general meeting and workshop in southern Seoul.
The forum, organized by the city government since 2008, is a program designed to provide foreign students opportunities to visit Seoul’s various institutions, experience cultural activities and present their opinions on city affairs so that the city government can come up with better policies for expats.
For the next two months, the participants will visit Digital Media City, Sky Park, Seoul Transport Operation and Information Service, Hangang Project headquarters, Cheong Wa Dae and the National Assembly, as well as doing volunteer work at children’s centers.
After completing the program, the students will be encouraged to present their ideas in various forms, including video clips. Those who actively participate in the program will be given a chance to take part in Seoul Global Internship under which they will work at the city government office during summer or winter vacation.
“We’ll make an effort to reflect foreign students’ creative ideas on Seoul’s expat policy,” a city official said.
