Black Spider grenade launcher is annihilator

Developed by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) between 1985 and 1991, the K4 “Black Spider” grenade launcher is known for its ability to decimate 2-3 squad of troops within mere seconds.

Based on the U.S.-made MK19 high-velocity grenade launcher, K4 can deliver 180 to 240 rounds a minute. Using 40mm explosive rounds, K4 can instantly destroy HMMWV (“Humvee”) and other light-armored vehicles with just a few rounds.

Despite its similarity with the K201 grenade launcher, K4’s rounds travels at 240m/s when it leaves the gun barrel ­ significantly faster than the 75m/s speed of the K201. Due to its high velocity rounds, it has an effective range of 1,500m with maximum range of 2,200m.

While K4 does have significant destructive powers, its rounds are designed to travel in linear projectile motion a disadvantage in a mountainous terrain that envelopes Korea. The disadvantage of linear projectile rounds along with its 30 million won price tag has prompted the Korean military to depend significantly more on 60mm or 81mm round mortars.

Regardless, the K4 grenade launcher is a force to be reckoned with in the field of battle with its unmatched destructive power.
