True Taste Show ruling due out today

By Park Si-soo

A court said Monday it will decide today whether to accept an injunction by a broadcaster to stop the screening of the documentary “True Taste Show.”

The film created a stir at a recent film festival by disclosing corrupt ties between restaurants and TV broadcasters.

The ruling was expected on Monday but Judge Kim Sang-hoon, a representative for the Seoul Southern District Court, said the verdict will be made on Tuesday “at the earliest.”

“We had a hearing Monday with lawyers representing the two parties,” Kim told The Korea Times. “Nothing is certain. But the court is trying to make a decision before Wednesday.” The disputed film is also scheduled to open in cinemas Wednesday.

MBC TV recently filed an injunction with the court to stop the release of the 70-minute film. The documentary alleges producers of MBC and other broadcaster received payments from restaurants owners in exchange for their restaurants being featured on their foodie shows.
