World’s Oldest Sheep Dies (한글 번역)

Lucky, the world's oldest sheep, listed on the Guinness World Records two years ago, died in Australia, Tuesday. She was 23 years, 6 months and 28 days old at the time of her death, nearly double the average life of a sheep.

The Internet edition of the BBC reported that Lucky, who grew up in Melbourne, Australia, died possibly from the hot weather that reached up to 36 degrees Celsius over the past week.

Her owners had recently moved her back into the shed where she spent her early years, in order to care for her when she became ill. The room was air-conditioned by two units.

They buried her under the tree she had loved most, the BBC reported.

Over her lifetime, Lucky gave birth to 35 offspring.

2년 전 기네스 월드 레코드(GWR)에 등재됐던 양 `럭키'가 화요일 사망했다. 양들의 평균 수명의 두 배가 되는 23살 6개월 28일을 살았다.

영국 BBC 인터넷판에 따르면 호주 맬버른 레이크 볼락 지역의 농장에서 자라난 럭키는 36℃까지 치솟는 무더위가 일주일간 지속되자 이를 못견디고 죽었다.

주인은 럭키가 아프자 다시 한번 돌봐주기 위해 어릴 때 지냈던 축사에 옮겨 에어컨 두 대를 틀어주기도 했다.

BBC는 주인이 럭키를 생전에 가장 좋아하던 나무 밑에 묻어주었다고 보도했다.

한편, 럭키는 사망하기 전까지 35마리의 새끼를 낳았다.
