On-Site Consultation for Foreigners Due Sunday

Seoul Global Center (SGC) begins its 30th on-site consulting services for expatriates in the city at Hyehwa-dong, Jongno District, Sunday.

The center started a free mobile counseling service for foreigners in April to support foreigners and multicultural families in Seoul. The service started in April at Gwanghui-dong, where many Mongolians live, and is held every Sunday.

Ten experts on labor, employment, law, taxation and consumer issues will give free counseling from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Woori Bank across from the Dongsung High School.

Hyehwa-dong is home to many Filipinos and a Philippine market opens on Sundays after the mass at the Hyehwa Catholic Church. It is a place for communication and networking for Filipinos living in Seoul.

The center expects some 300 Filipinos seek consultation from the professionals. Those who cannot finish the counseling in time can continue via e-mail or by telephone.

"We are providing various services to help foreigners live in Seoul more comfortably," said an SGC official. The center, which opened in January 2008, offers various consulting services on overall life in Korea in English, Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, Vietnamese and Tagalog.
