Offices to Open 1 Hour Later on Exam Day

The morning reporting time for civil servants will be delayed by one hour and more subways and buses will run on Nov. 12, when the College Scholastic Ability Test is to be carried out nationwide, the education ministry said Thursday.

This is part of the government’s efforts to help test takers arrive at their testing site on time. The ministry also called on private companies to allow their workers to come in later to help reduce traffic volume in the morning.

Under the measure, government offices around the country will open at 10 a.m. The government has asked bus operators to run extra buses between 6 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. that morning.

Flight takeoffs and landings will be banned between 8:40 a.m. to 8:53 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. to 1:30p.m., during which Korean and English listening tests are to be held, and the use of car horns will not be allowed within 200 meters of testing sites, the ministry said.
