Cheong Wa Dae Opens Internship

Cheong Wa Dae plans to hire 12 administrative interns to assist with public relations, news analysis and statistics research, the presidential office said Tuesday.
It will receive applications between Jan. 14 and 20 and announce successful candidates on Feb. 2 after screening.
The interns are supposed to work for five months and allowed a one-time extension for an additional five months.
Those who perform well will be hired, the office said.
To help smooth landing of those interns, Cheong Wa Dae will offer educational programs on administrative work and foreign language study.

The presidential office began the internship program in 2006 under the former Roh Moo-hyun administration.
In 2007, for every 52 who applied for the internship, just one was hired, while in 2008 the ratio stood at 102 to 1.
