President Lee to Give Radio Address Every 2 Weeks
President Lee Myung-bak will make his radio address every two weeks on Mondays to seek public understanding of state policies, Cheong Wa Dae announced Wednesday.
The presidential office got its inspiration for the address from ``Fireside Chats,'' the radio speeches given by then U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt to American citizens during the Great Depression in the 1930s to seek public support for his economic recovery programs.
In his first nationwide radio address early this week, President Lee called for lending institutions to be more active in resolving liquidity problems at firms, saying that the Korean economy was strong enough to rise above the global financial crisis.
