Pyongyang Proposes Working-Level Military Talks to Seoul

Pyongyang proposed to Seoul holding working-level military talks next Tuesday, a source from the Ministry of National Defense said Friday.
``The North proposed the meeting with the South through an inter-Korean military channel Thursday morning,'' said the official on condition of anonymity.
The source said that the government ministries are now looking into the background of the North's proposal and will decide whether or not South officials sit down with their North counterparts after reviewing the offer.
Pyongyang was quoted as saying that the two sides discuss follow-up issues they agreed to in earlier dialogues.
The ministry, if it accepts the proposal, is considering holding the talks sometime Oct. 2 or 3, the source said.
