Kim Kyung-joon’s Lawyer Slams Independent Counsel

Kim Kyung-joon's defending lawyer Park Chan-jong condemned the independent counsel's clearance of all charges against President-elect Lee Myung-bak, Thursday. Right after the announcement of the result of the investigation, Park said that from the beginning, the counsel had decided Kim was solely responsible for the manipulation of BBK stocks.
``The counsel took a low-profile approach in investigating this stock price rigging scandal. And the face-to-face questioning with the president-elect on Feb. 17 was conducted on the presumption that Lee was innocent,'' Park said. ``Prosecutors treated Lee as a victim, not as a suspect.''
He said he cannot accept the counsel's decision and will continue to make efforts to prove it wrong.
``Independent prosecutors have strived to avert any political burden that would be imposed on them if they found Lee guilty,'' he added.
