Office workers have more than three cups of coffee on average daily, a survey showed. If they don't drink their daily boost, they experience withdrawal symptoms.
Among respondents, women said they drank 2.7 cups a day, while men drank four. As many as 88 percent, however said that when they couldn't enjoy a cup, they experienced withdrawal symptoms, said Career, an online job portal site, after a survey on 2,065 salaried persons.
Despite the results that men drink almost double the amount of coffee than women, it was found that women actually spent 1.5 times more money on coffee. Female office workers spent 22,154 won on average a month while males spent 15,322 won. The result was attributed to women's preference for take-outs. The overall average stood at 18,763 won.
Instant coffee was chosen the favorite; with 71 percent of respondents answering they enjoy the fast and practical type. Others preferred vending machine coffee (36 percent), brewed coffee (19.2 percent), take-out coffee (16.4 percent) and coffee in a can (11.6 percent).
The most common symptom of lack of coffee was sleepiness as nearly 40 percent said they felt drowsy when they did not have their daily dose. It said 26 percent cited falls in concentration and 21 percent picked increased fatigue. Feeling nervous, insecure and depressed were also among the symptoms.
