739 Inmates to Be Paroled on Corrections Day

More than 700 prisoners are set to be freed on the occasion of the 62th ``Corrections Day,'' which falls Sunday.
The Ministry of Justice announced Thursday that it would parole a total of 739 inmates nationwide and decorate 83 exemplary officials having engaged in correction facilities and concerned fields to praise their contributions and efforts.
Convicts who have behaved well while serving sentences and are unlikely to once again be involved in crime are subject to the special release.
Among them are 59 long-term prisoners and 27 physically disabled and aged patients,.
The ministry will have an official celebration event in Seoul Sunday with 1,300 guests including Justice Minister Chung Soung-jin present.
On the sideline of the ceremony, there will be a variety of events, in which a number of art works made in cooperation with inmates and correctional officials will be exhibited.
