Changwon City will host an international environment symposium, The International Symposium Eco-materials Processing and Design (ISEPD), next January for three days at the Changwon Exhibition Convention Center.
The city, located in South Gyeongsang Province, was earlier selected as the venue for the 2008 Ramsar Convention Conference which will discuss international actions for the conservation and wise use of wetlands, crucial habitat for waterfowl and other species.
The ISEPD, which covers environment preservation and recycling resources, will invite some 400 guests from 10 countries including the U.S., France, Germany, China and Japan.
Since it was launched in 2000, the symposium has been held in three North East Asian countries by rotation every year and was hosted by Japan last January in Kita Kyushu. The U.S, Mexico and Peru plan to host the symposium as well after next year.
Next year's symposium will feature four themes: Photocatalysts, High-end Nano Technology, Eco-materials and Ceramics, and Recycling. The city also plans to utilize the opportunity in promoting the facility for exhibitions and conventions to its international guests.
