World-renowned scholars will come to Seoul to participate in summer programs co-offered by Kyung Hee University and University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), an Ivy League school in the United States.
Under the theme, ``Global Governance and East Asian Civilization'', the program will invite 24 world specialists in the field; nine professors from UPenn, two experts from the United Nations (U.N.), one each from Beijing University, Moscow State University and the University of Tokyo, as well as 10 faculty members from the host school.
Kyung Hee became the first partner of UPenn among Korean universities for the summer program last year. The program of 23 lectures will run from June 2-27 and will be open to all undergraduate or graduate students overseas and here.
All classes will be conducted in English. However, the school will help students who have difficulties studying in English by placing teaching assistants.
The school expects that more than 500 students including some 100 foreign students will register for the program. Students will have the chance to learn about the position of East Asia in the world from the perspective of the U.N. through a lecture ``East Asia and Global Governance: The U.N. Perspective'' by Adil Khan and Numayr Chowhury from the Department of Economic and Social Affairs at the U.N.
Also, the schools are preparing various symposiums for the future of East Asia and Korean cultural events such as music and dance performances, and food exhibitions.
