Love of Korean Culture
Dear editor,
I'm writing in response to an Oct. 22 letter to the editor, ``Restore Faith in Korean Culture."
First of all, I feel ashamed as a Korean that actress Choi Jin-sil committed suicide because of malicious rumors spread by some terrible people, and I am very sorry to hear that we broke an American's faith in Korean culture.
However, I believe that all Koreans didn't personally attack her, as Monique Vance mentioned. There are always callous people everywhere in the world.
Only a few bad Koreans who want to feel superior by hurting someone else hurt her.
Also, I'd like to say that most Koreans have grieved and are still grieving over the tragedy. I've heard that many people around me cried a lot the day she died, as if their sister had died.
I think that we Koreans are warm-hearted, loving and empathetic, which made this American fall in love with Korean culture. The actress should have known how much we loved her.
I hope Vance will continue to love Korea. I don't want to lose someone like her who can share the value of our Korean humanity.
