taliban Military Option Against Taliban
Dear editor,
No one ever resolved a fight with a bully or gang member by being subservient. All that does is create an incentive for that bully and others to impose their will.
Rudyard Kipling's poem Danegeld is famous:
It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: --
"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!"
South Korea's response should have been to offer the Afghan government an additional company of soldiers for each Korean hostage and an additional battalion for each hostage killed.
Instead, the Korean government’s craven attitude will only invite more kidnappings, more murders, more demands. Your government has signed the death warrants for all Koreans captured by terrorists anywhere around the world. And, as you build a university for these Islamic murderers in your country, you will train young Koreans to become detestable as well... Because they too will hate your weakness!
Turn around now, before it's too late. Send the ROK Army or Marines to rescue the hostages or punish the people who took them.
Unless there is no more pride left in Korea, no more manhood, no more filial sense of duty to protect one's countrymen... Sadly,
John Bailey
