Marsala is a color named after a type of wine produced in Sicily, Italy, called Opici Marsala. It gets its rich golden tone from blending in older reserves of the same wine.
Earlier this year, Pantone Color Institute, a leading U.S. company specializing in color-trend forecasting, color insights and customized color consulting for market branding, has chosen marsala as color of the year in 2015.
Imperial Palace Seoul, which features luxurious European styling and the latest in technology, is currently fostering this theme by offering the Marsala Suite Package, an attempt to introduce the deep wine color’s elegance, as well as the taste of wine, to the local hotel clientele.
Currently, they are offering a package that includes a one-night stay in either the Corner or Duplex Suites. The highlight of the package is a bottle of free Jacob’s Creek Shiraz Cabernet with a cheese platter or a tiny cake.
“This is not the original Marsala wine, but it is very close to it in taste and color,” an anonymous hotel staff member said. Even though Cabernet is from Australia, and Marsala Sweet, from which the color took its name, from Italy, the tastes approximate.
This package could be a great urban family get-away for the weekend and costs only 430,000 won excluding tax and service charge.
The Spring of Marsala Package is especially good for couples too, costing only 175,000 won. For an additional charge of 60,000 won, customers can receive a bottle of Jacob’s Creek Shiraz Cabernet. For an additional charge, guests can choose from various other types of rooms.
Marsala package customers can also explore different types of wines at Cafe Amiga, which offers an inviting wine buffet throughout the year. Eight different types of wines are available from the buffet, including Alada Cabernet Sauvignon and Cotes du Rhone Blanc. Marsala customers will receive a 20-percent discount on any order.
Located in the posh southern district of Seoul, the Imperial Palace Seoul has more than 25 years of history. Rooms are equipped with high speed Internet, 42-inch color television, double doors, telephones, a fax machine, coffee maker and a safety deposit box. The hotel was renovated in recent years to accommodate the fast-changing tastes of their Seoul clientele, mostly businessmen, but currently it is reaching out to attract increasing numbers of tourists, especially Chinese, who come to visit Seoul for vacation.
