Female clientele are a frequent target for hotels.
Hotels offer special packages appealing to women; for example a yoga package or a special program for pregnancy.
December is a popular month for this, and the Grand Hilton Seoul’s “Ladies Package” is a prime example. The package is aimed at women who are looking for a venue for a Christmas party or a year-end party with female friends and colleagues.
The Ladies Package includes a free selfie stick.
The package is available for four to six people, and includes one-night stay in one of the serviced residences, which have more than three rooms, a bathroom and a full kitchen, and a selection of wines and a plate of snacks. Guests also receive a selfie stick, an item reflecting the popular local culture of taking self-pictures.
The hotel staff said the package hasn’t missed a single year since 2009 when it was launched.
Two features make the package outstand among its competitors.
The Ladies Package offers assorted snacks.
The Price is one. For the four-people room, the package costs 200,000 won. Including tax and service charges, it costs each person 60,000 won. “You’d not be able to find any place that’s a better deal than this in a holiday season. I can guarantee you,” said Lee Jung-hwa, the hotel’s marketing and public relations manager.
Another merit is a spacious room. The three-bedroom serviced residence is 139 square meters in size (four bedrooms are 173 square meters) and outfitted with a full kitchen, a huge living room and a bathroom. They were originally designed for long-term guests.
Package guests are given a three- or four-bedroom apartment.
When asked whether they are too harsh by completely banning man and how they make sure no man enters the room, the hotel said it confirms the number of guests at the front desk during check-in, and gives a strong “no man” instruction. “We do this because we don’t want other guests to be bothered,” Lee said.
The Grand Hilton Seoul is the only five-star hotel in the northwestern district of Seoul. Opened in 1988, it was popular among the affluent residents in the neighborhood. With the rise of the middle class, the hotel has become more accessible. Attracting younger clientele is the hotel’s new challenge. The German community is one of the hotel’s loyal clientele, owing to German General Manger Bernhard Brender.
The hotel has 396 rooms, along with a swimming pool, a gym and a sauna. The list of restaurants is diverse, from buffet to Japanese, Chinese and Italian. It had a renovation which ended two years ago. The hotel has an addition building, which is only for long-term guests. The Ladies Package room is located in this building.
