Haevichi embraces fitness in package

JEJU — Hotels are actively introducing activity related packages, as people look beyond relaxation and a delicious meal to become fit.
The Haevichi Hotel and Resort on Jeju Island has launched a “Life Fitness Styling (LFS)” package starting this month where the entire program is about eating healthy and working out.
Guests who book the package program during their stay will follow a schedule set by the hotel, which is a combination of healthy diet menus and workout programs along with outdoor activities and a relaxing spa to wrap up the day.
The fitness programs are offered every day and, depending on the number of nights of their stay, guests will be offered the chance to participate in different programs.
The fitness programs which are offered during the daytime include gym classes, pilates classes, intensive body training, physical renewal through balance training, aqua dance, mini triathlon and cardio classes which involve jogging, cycling and power walking.
The outdoor activity programs include hiking at Sara Oreum or doing an Eastern Oreum tour, Gotjawal eco-trekking or walking the migratory bird olle trails.
In between these programs are healthy foods offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which participants must follow without choice except if they have allergies to specific foods. Breakfast is served at the Sum Mora Buffet, but participants will not choose from the buffet but rather follow a designated menu. Lunch is served with Jeju’s local dishes prepared with local ingredients, and for dinner, “super food” or food to boost stamina is offered.
When the morning fitness program is over, a kale juice mixed with cucumber is provided before lunch to detoxify the body.
Then at night, three types of spas are offered to choose from and a 60-minute therapy is offered with prior reservations.
The “Life Fitness Styling” package is the first of its kind among hotels.
“It’s targeted for people who come to Jeju Island often. People who come here every two to three months have been to almost every part of the island. So these kinds of guests want a different kind of experience. They want to do everything inside the hotel,” said Jang Jae-young, fitness trainer at the Haevichi Hotel and Resort Jeju.
“It’s an all-inclusive program for such travelers. Although it’s a set program, it’s not coercive. Users can choose the program according to their needs and taste.”
The fitness center opened in July but was only available for individual workouts. Fitness trainers were present, but this is the first time the hotel is offering a package program centering on fitness.
There are currently two trainers who manage the program at the hotel.
“During the workout program, we instruct guests about the common physical problems people encounter. Most of the working population suffer from tense shoulder and back pains. We focus on enhancing the flexibility of muscles through stretching and then offer exercises to strengthen them,” said Jang.
Most of the package users are in their late 30s to early 40s and up.
“Depending on the stay, users can participate in different programs. In the morning, they’ll be doing aerobic exercises and then muscular strength exercises. After lunch, they can choose to take part in outdoor activity programs,” said Jang.
The LFS package starts from 737,000 won per person for two-night and three-day stays. For more information, call 064-780-8000.
