The Lotte City Hotel Daejeon opened Thursday, becoming Lotte’s ninth domestic chain hotel.

Daejeon is known as the mecca of advanced science and technology and is often called the Silicon Valley of Korea. The Lotte City Hotel Daejeon bills itself as an ideal location to host international meetings and events.

Having broken ground in April 2012, the 18-story building is built in Yuseong-gu, on the opposite side of the Daejeon Convention Center.

The hotel offers 312 guest rooms including eight suites, 27 deluxe rooms and 267 standard rooms. Room rates start from 240,000 won up to 400,000 won.

The hotel’s Lobby Lounge presents a leisurely tea time with the “Afternoon Tea Set” from 2 p.m. through 5 p.m.

The hotel’s pastry chef Beat Loeffel has chosen the offerings, including scones, eclairs, macaroons, sandwiches and toasts. Guests can choose tea (Darjeeling, Jasmine and more) or coffee (Americano, Cafe Latte, Cappuccino). Classical music will be played to set the mood.

The Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel presents a “Spring Awakening Package” for guests planning a short getaway in Seoul.

For the package, the hotel has prepared two bicycles to ride along Dorim Stream and the Han River by the hotel. Guests are provided with a complimentary 30,000 won voucher that they can use at the Deli. The package is available through May 31. The package starts at 280,000 won (excluding 10 percent VAT).

The Millennium Seoul Hilton’s French restaurant, the Seasons, will hold the 74th Gourmet Circle Dinner, April 4-5.

A ritual for Seoul’s gourmand and wine connoisseurs, the dinner will start with a champagne reception at 7 p.m., followed by a seven-course meal prepared by executive chef Park Hyo-nam, and accompanied by complementary wines.

The Oakwood Premier Coex Center is offering colorful and healthy Korean cuisine through April 18 to celebrate spring.

The menu will feature fresh golden winter mushroom and flower salad, shrimp and bamboo shoot salad, spicy noodles with assorted sprouts and “bibimbap” with boiled cockles, spring vegetables and soy sauce.

Guests can also enjoy nutritious detox juice, which includes carrot, red bell pepper, apple and celery.
