Hotels.com

Online hotel booker Hotels.com said Seoul hotel prices are down 22% compared to a year ago, making it more appealing in the international travel market. According to the latest Hotel Price Index, which looked at the hotel prices of 78,000 membership hotels worldwide, room rates are on average lower than they were five years ago, meaning consumers are now paying 2003 prices.

The global dip in hotel prices will provide opportunities for Korean travelers to enjoy overseas trips on reasonable budgets, the company said.

Johan Svanstrom, managing director of Hotels.com Asia Pacific, says, "The 22-percent downfall of Seoul's hotel prices makes this city a more attractive destination than ever in the international travel market. A steady increase of inbound overseas visitors to Korea over the past months is a good indication. Korean tourism professionals should put more drive into their marketing efforts to promote this destination, with this perfect timing."
