Carriers to Offer Summer Discount

Foreign and domestic air carriers have unveiled a string of discounted fares for the summer months.
Cathay Pacific Airways is offering discounts in business class for a group of two or more travelers when they make reservations on the same flight schedule.
The roundtrip fare between Seoul and Hong Kong starts at 650,000 won ($510) per person when two or three people travel together, and 600,000 won for between four and nine people. The promotion is available until the end of August, and passengers can stay in Hong Kong for up to seven days.
Special fares are available for Southeast Asia when a group of two to nine people travel: Tickets for Bangkok and Manila are 700,000 won per person; for Cebu, 750,000 won; Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, 800,000 won; Phuket, 850,000 won; and Bali, 900,000 won. Passengers can stay for up to 15 days.
Cathay is also offering another ``Happy Hour'' promotion between 6 p.m. and midnight every Friday for three weeks, starting from today. Those making reservations on the carrier's Web site, www.cathaypacific.com/kr, can get tickets for Hong Kong at 230,000 won and Taipei at 158,000 won.

For college and graduate students, roundtrip tickets between Seoul and Osaka for 80,000 won with Jeju Air have been made available.
The fare is applied to planes departing before July 17 and excludes tax and fuel surcharge. Customers can stay in the Japanese city for up to 14 days. Reservations can only be made on the carrier's Web site, www.jejuair.net, and through its call center on 1599-1500. Students need to show their student ID cards when checking-in at Incheon International Airport.
A 99,000-won fare from Jeju Air is also being offered for a flight departing on June 28 for Kitakyushu. Four airtel packages are offered at special prices to 33 customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The prices range between 189,000 and 289,000 won. The two-night three-day programs include flight and a two-night stay at a hotel or one night at a hotel and one night at a traditional Japanese inn, or ryokan. Jin Air is offering a ``Family Discount Program,'' the only one of its kind in Korea. It provides a 10-percent discount when three or more members of a family travel. The discount is also available on weekends and during high demand seasons.
