Hotels Open Backyard for Barbeque

The gentle spring breeze has started to make it quite enjoyable to participate in outdoor activities, and dining is not an exception.

Seoul's five-star hotels are now opening their gardens, terraces and poolside that were closed throughout the winter and early spring to offer guests a chance to enjoy good food and wine without missing the weather.

Grand Hyatt Seoul

The Grand Hyatt Seoul's Poolside Barbeque opens its grilling season from May 9.

The outdoor dining spot provides diners with a romantic setting, overlooking sparkling blue waters, scenic gardens and a superb night view of the city.

Guests can enjoy ocean-fresh seafood and a selection of prime lamb, beef, chicken and sausages, all charcoal-grilled.

The buffet is open daily, weather permitting, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the price is 56,000 won for adults and 31,000 for children. For more information call (02) 799-8495.

Ritz-Carlton Seoul

The Ritz-Carlton Seoul's Garden restaurant offers a lunchtime barbecue.

The barbecue set menu is six courses while the buffet includes 60 kinds of food.

The dinner set menu is available from May 1 to Oct. 31 on weekdays for 70,000 won. The barbecue brunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends for 65,000 won.

Imperial Palace Hotel

The Imperial Palace Hotel opens its poolside barbeque buffet on May 8.

Located on the 3rd floor of the main building, the swimming pool is surrounded by pillars, patterned on ancient Greek shrines. Wooden tables and chairs under white parasols Mediterranean style and the kidney shaped pool enhance the exotic scenery.

Food on offer includes succulent steaks, beef ribs and lamb chops, as well as smoked salmon, king crab and shrimps.

The barbeque buffet is priced at 66,000 won is available from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. a with barbecue party on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information call (02) 3440-8000.

Renaissance Seoul Hotel

The Renaissance Seoul Hotel has already opened its Beer Garden outdoor terrace.

Beer Garden offers a wide variety of cuisines along with cold beer and beverages daily.

Unlimited cold beer and other beverages are available at Happy Hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily except Thursday and Friday.

Every Friday, the hotel holds an event, BBQ Night, where buffet style cuisine is provided along with drinks.

The prices are 12,000 won for the Happy Hour and 33,000 won for BBQ Night.

Best Western Premier Seoul Garden Hotel

The Seoul Garden Hotel offers an outdoor BBQ Feast from May 7 through Oct. 11.

At Garden Land, guests can enjoy the special feast with a range of salads, main dishes, breads, and dessert as well as barbequed meats and fish.

A wine promotion will also accompany the feast.

Millennium Seoul Hilton

The Oak Room, Millennium Seoul Hilton's traditional English-style bar, is holding a BBQ Happy Hour.

Oak Room opens the outdoor terrace every evening, except Sundays, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to host a barbecue buffet.

A variety of meats as well as side dishes, salads and an array of condiments will be available.

To spice up the buffet, the bar sets a monthly theme ― Tandoori for the month of May.

Happy Hour costs 31,000 won.

Grand Hilton Seoul

The Buffet Restaurant at the Grand Hilton Seoul hosts Australian-style barbeques every Saturday and Sunday.

The restaurant offers barbequed delicacies in a range of styles from the traditional charcoal grill and carving corner to Mongolian barbeque and Tandoori oven specialties.

The barbeque is priced at 52,000 won for adults and 26,000 won for children.

Sheraton Grande Walkerhill

Popular singer Park Sang-min meets his fans at Sheraton Grande Walkerhill with an outdoor, dinner concert.

The dinner concert will be held on May 24 at the hotel's outdoor Korean barbeque venue, Myongwolgwan.

Park has been on the stage since 1993, penning hit songs such as ``Person who Drifted Away,'' ``Rain Drenched by Rain,'' ``Jean Lady'' and ``A Farewell to Arms.''

Along with the dinner concert, the restaurant holds garden barbecue parties every Saturday night through October.

Grand InterContinental Seoul

The Grand InterContinental Seoul offers unlimited draft beer, wine and a snack buffet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in its Happy Hour on the outdoor Grand Terrace.

From Monday to Sunday from noon to 11 p.m., a charcoal-fire barbeque with cool draft beer is on offer.

Prices start from 5,100 won for draft beer while the Happy Hour price is 20,000 won.

Ramada Hotel & Suites

The Red Square terrace-dining cafe at the Ramada Hotel & Suites is offering a barbeque.

Barbequed meats include black tiger shrimp, rib eye steak, spicy chicken wings, pork ribs and neck meat, squid, and beef tenderloin.

The Red Square is located on the 24th floor with a terrace and private dining rooms.

In a private dining room, guests can choose a set menu from 50,000 won to 70,000 won or a barbeque menu for 30,000 won.
