President's twin nephews born last week

By Kim Hyo-jin

President Park Geun-hye has become an aunt to twin nephews, after her sister-in-law Seo Hyang-hee gave birth to her third and fourth children a week ago.

Seo, 41, is wife of Park Ji-man, the President’s younger brother and chairman of electronics materials maker EG.

“I heard that Chairman Park’s wife gave birth to twin sons a week ago. Both mother and babies were said to be doing well,” a Saenuri Party official was quoted as saying by Yonhap News Agency, Wednesday.

The twins were reportedly born on April 28, right after the President had come back from a trip to South America.

It was reported that the President has yet to meet her nephews because she had been resting at her official residence due to travel fatigue.

She suffered a week-long illness of stomach cramps and a sore throat, but returned to work Monday.

Chairman Park delivered the news that his wife was pregnant with twins when he came to a memorial ceremony for former Prime Minister Kim Jong-pil’s wife, Park Young-ok, at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul, on Feb 22.

In response, Kim offered a blessing, saying, “Why not have triplets? Your father, former President Park Chung-hee would have been glad to hear the news.”

Park Ji-man, 57, married Seo Hyang-hee, a lawyer, in 2004 and they previously had two sons in 2005 and 2014.
