Do not go gentle into that good night, old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light, though wise men at their end know dark is right, because their words had forked no lightning they, do not go gentle into that good night.

Hong Duck-ryul, president of Daegu University, received an appreciation plaque from the school’s African international students, the school said Tuesday.
Four African students, two enrolled and two graduated students including Byondi Franck Kimetya, 30, visited Hong, Monday, to deliver the plaque, expressing their gratitude for the support given to them while studying at the school.
“I came to Daegu University five years ago. I wouldn’t be able to study here without the school’s help,” Kimetya said.
The school has provided clothing, class materials, textbooks and housing during their five years of language training and undergraduate courses.
Thanks to the school’s supports, six international students, including Kimetya from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), received bachelor’s degrees at graduation Feb. 27.
The plaque reads in both Korean and English, “We, six students from DRC, thanks with love for your sincere support during one year of the language training and four years of academic courses at Daegu University. The knowledge and experience we have learned at the school will contribute greatly to the future of DRC. Long live Daegu University! Long live Korea! Long live DRC!”
Hong said the six students were very special to him.
“They came a long way from home to study. I am so proud of them as they have overcome various difficulties, such as a different culture, food and weather, and finally graduated from the school,” Hong said.
Three of the graduates are expected to enter graduate schools at Daegu University and the other three will enter graduate schools in different areas, the school said.
There are currently 16 students from six different African countries studying at Daegu University.
“It does a young man good to suffer some privations in the world,” said Hong.
“I hope more African students come to Daegu University, and have a meaningful experience.”
