Kim & Chang, a top Korean law firm, has been selected as one of the world’s top 10 law firms when it comes to social contributions. British legal media’s “Who’s Who Legal” list named Kim & Chang for the second consecutive year.
Kim & Chang was the only Asian law firm selected, along with such firms as the U.K.’s Norton Rose Fulbright, the U.S. law firm Kirkland & Ellis and ENSafrica in South Africa.
The “Who’s Who Legal” list evaluates law firms based on hours put into public work, participation of partner lawyers and the existence of a designated lawyer for social contribution work.
The Kim & Chang’s Committee for Social Contribution, founded in May 2013 and led by Chairman Mok Young-joon, offered legal services for businesses operating in the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea and led campaigns to correct legal terms that were deemed to disparage the disabled by working with the Special Olympics Committee.
The firm also provided legal services to get Korean badminton players Lee Yong-dae and Kim Ki-jung reinstated.
