IBM Korea has appointed Kang Hak-dong to be managing partner of its global business services department.

The global company said Thursday that Kim was appointed to the position because of his abundant experience in global operations at IBM.

“Kim’s deep client relationships, expertise on IBM's solutions and Digital Front Office solutions sales and delivery capability built over more than 10 years will be the key to helping us continue to develop our market leadership and accelerate our business growth,” IBM Korea said in a statement.

He has served in a number of IBM’s key positions. Most recently, he was the key account leader in maximizing IBM’s future business such as cloud and analytics.

Kim previously served as service and IBM’s software collaboration leader in Shanghai, China, from 2012 to July 2013.

Some of his accomplishments include global operations on IBM’s on-line channel, procurement outsourcing as GPS leader and enforcing retail and transportation market competitiveness as global business service commercial sector leader from 2010 to 2011. Kim studied economics at Yonsei University.
