Mirae Asset chairman donates dividend

Park Hyeon-joo, chairman and founder of Mirae Asset, has agreed to donate the entirety of his dividend to his financial group-affiliated foundation, Mirae Asset Global Investments said Wednesday.
At the general stockholders meeting, Park said that he will be donating 1.5 billion won to the Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation in accordance with a letter that he wrote to his employees in 2008.
He said in the letter that he would use all dividends he receives to support youths.
Over four years, Park has so far donated some 15.2 billion won.
Park also used his dividends to launch a number of educational programs.
Park established the foundation in 2000 with private funds amounting to 7.5 billion won,
providing 5,275 students with scholarships for 15 years.
