Park Chang-ho, a public relations officer at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), is to serve as the head of the Korea Universities PR Association (KUPA).
Park, 48, was elected president of the association during its general assembly on Jeju Island, Wednesday. He will lead KUPA for one year from July 1.
“We are now living in a world where Korean universities are competing not only with each other but also with universities in other countries,” Park said. “We need to make sure PR staff can meet such needs in the face of such a competition.”
He began his career at the university in 1993 and has worked for the PR team since February 2009.
KUPA was established in 1997 to boost cooperation among PR staffers at colleges and universities. Member universities are able to share with each other information needed to enhance public relations.
“I will work to provide platforms on which universities can provide ideas of development and cooperation,” Park said. “I will also put effort into making sure our universities will step up exchanges and information sharing with respected foreign universities.”
