The Korea Times is happy to announce the winners of the 43rd Modern Korean Literature Translation Awards. This year, the judges have selected three finalists in the fiction and poetry categories.
The Grand Prize winner, receiving 5 million won, is Eugene Larsen-Hallock for his translation of Yoon Sung-hee’s “The Cold.”
The winner of the Commendation Award in fiction was Kim Hye-jin for her translation of “Liver and Gallbladder.” Kim will receive a cash prize of 2 million won.
The third finalists were the duo of Jeong Mi-gyeong and Frederick Ronald Bottley who won the Commendation Award in poetry and 1 million won in cash for their translation of “The Sewoon Shopping Mall Kid’s Love.”
