Hong Ra-hee, wife of Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee, resumed her post as director of the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul, according to the museum, Tuesday.
Hong returned to the position as of March 16 and took part in the opening ceremony of the museum’s new exhibition “Korean Rhapsody.”
“In light of the current social climate, such as the aftermath of the disastrous Japanese earthquakes, Ms. Hong returned to her position without holding an official ceremony,” said an official of the museum.
Hong left the museum’s helm in June 2008 after her husband resigned from Samsung. During Hong’s absence, her sister Hong Ra-yeong oversaw the administration of the museum as its deputy director.
Meanwhile Leeum’s ongoing exhibition “Korean Rhapsody,” which features both contemporary and retro works shedding light on Korean modern history, continues through June 5.
