Singer-turned-designer Sang A Im-Propp has published an autobiography, ``Sang A's New York Narrative,'' and came to Korea Monday to take part in promotional events, according to publishing firm Sallim Books.

Making her TV acting debut in 1995, she rose to stardom after appearing in numerous dramas and musicals in the late 1990s but abruptly disappeared from the public radar at the peak of her popularity. It was revealed years later that she had become a famous handbag designer in New York.

In the essay, she opens up about her life, marriage and job, telling a story of victory over adversity. She writes about how she overcame depression and other difficulties before launching her Sang A brand in New York. The book also contains stories and snapshots of her husband and daughter.

She herself designed the book, the publishing firm said.

``All of the designs of this book are her work. The cover and all other elements in the book are basically in line with the simple designs of her handbag brand,'' an official from the publishing firm said.

In New York City, Im-Propp is a famed designer of highly coveted, luxurious handbags made of exotic skins, with the popularity of her handbags propelled by Hollywood celebrity clientele and favorable reviews from fashion magazines Vogue and Elle.

She will appear on TV programs and hold an autograph session before returning to New York on Dec. 11.
