Chung Hee-ja Appointed as Honorary Consul of Guatemala

Chung Hee-ja, founder of the Artsonje Center and Museum was appointed as Honorary Consul of Guatemala to Korea last week. She is the wife of former Daewoo Group chairman Kim Woo-choong.
Guatemalan Ambassador to Korea Rafael Antonio Salazar Galvez last Thursday presented her a certificate of appointment, saying that Chung would strengthen exchanges in economics, culture and tourism between Korea and Guatemala.
As a private collector, Chung founded the Artsonje Museum in the Gyeongju Bomun complex, North Gyeongbuk Province, exhibiting her own collection. In Seoul, she is the director of the Artsonje Center, a private contemporary art museum.
She was recognized for her efforts in promoting Guatemala in Korea. ``She is a good friend of mine. Also, she is interested in investment in Guatemala, and promotes Guatemalan commodities like coffee and wood in Korea,'' the ambassador said. In addition, she helped Guatemalan artists travel to Korea during the Latin cultural festival earlier this year.
