Lee Sang-seok Named KATUSA President

Lee Sang-seok, vice president of the Hankook Ilbo, a sister paper of The Korea Times, was appointed as inaugural president of the Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army (KATUSA) Veterans Association, Sunday.
``I will put more efforts into strengthening the Korea-America alliance,'' Lee said.
KATUSA has more than 500,000 veterans and celebrates its 60th anniversary next year.
Lee said the association plans to hold various events including gatherings of American soldiers and KATUSA, a marathon, and the hiking of mountains surrounding U.S. bases here.
