Not all of us are fully conscious of the significance of our lives. We open our eyes in the morning just because it is time to wake to the day. We earn money to support our family. We eat meals to appease our hunger. We are likely to become overambitious to get more than what is truly needed. We struggle to achieve something in order to be successful ― or to be seen as successful ― and to save face in front of others. But does all this make us happy?
We have seen many famous figures abruptly expelled from their positions for various dishonorable actions, such as plagiarism or sex scandals. It may seem that successful businessmen or high-ranking government officials enjoy happy lives, so have nothing to worry about. But once we see their inside story, we realize how vulnerable they are. They are not even ready to hear forthcoming bad fortune. They feel uneasy as they possess more than others and are afraid of losing what they have.
It would be fortunate if we had a chance to ponder on our life, and question what is going on. We seldom realize the truth until we lose something that really matters.
Take a pause in the process of your life journey to look at yourself and your surroundings. This is a moment to get to know who you are, what created you and what you long for. It can be a priceless break to think about the meaning of you as a being, profound questions about life and death and a cosmological understanding of existence. This will eventually teach you what true happiness is and how to pursue it.
Saju explains the life curves of your destiny. Some may show extreme peaks and valleys (A curve in the diagram) while others reveal more gradual slopes (B curve). Some can enjoy rosy days longer while others have to crumble until they hit the bottom. If you comprehend this cycle, you can allay the pain of downfall.
It is not appropriate to compare saju with other teachings, such as religious. It is far below the concept of philosophy. It is so secular that people expect answers such as when they will be wealthy and how to succeed. It doesn’t guide with moral teaching. However, a sincere understanding of saju helps you not to reach for more than the proper sphere you were born with. You can learn when to proceed and when to stop, where you should be and consequently how to be content.
It tells you something spiritual, out of the doctrine of technology and science. If you think about the ability to commune with transcendental existence, something that can’t be proved by scientific experiment, you may regard it as illogical and superstitious. Furthermore, it was never taught at school. Is that a reason you can ignore the teachings of saju?
In the history of human civilization, our society has mainly been propelled by intellectual experiences, data analysis, calculation and procedural knowledge. Those who are excellent in these categories have been highly acknowledged. Owing to human’s unlimited abilities, however, these traditional values are being substituted by machines and computers. There are abundant materials to please our desires but people still have anxiety and fear. This is because of their restless yearning for success, craving for higher positions and longing for more than what they have. People are unhappy because they long for a true relationship with others.
It is time for us to seriously think about our life goals, the best way to become happy and what and who satisfies us most. Few people have asked these questions of themselves and not everyone can give candid answers.
Saju may be seen as an unscientific and bizarre way to tell one’s destiny. Nevertheless, if you study it with a faithful and modest attitude, you can have a high degree of self-awareness. By being inspired by vision and values, you may have a compass to guide your inner self, which helps you reach a correct appreciation of conscience.
